Truth to tell, book-writing has taken something of a back seat recently, while we survived the roller coaster ride of caring for my elderly mother in her final months of life, and then selling our family home in a year when no sane person moved house if they could avoid it. 

Thankfully I’ve lived to tell the tale and I’ve downsized, unpacked, sorted out,filed away and am happily installed in my new study. From my desk under the window I can enjoy a view of the garden, and our neighbour’s kittens balancing on the wall, gazing hopefully at the wood pigeons in the hornbeam tree. Now I’m ready to embark on the next stage of the magical mystery tour that is the writing life.
